Merched ar Lestri

Dros y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf, dwi di bod yn cyd-weithio ar arddangosfa o’r enw ‘Merched ar Lestri’ a fydd yn agor dydd Sadwrn, Ionawr y 18fed yng Nghanolfan Grefft Rhuthun. Hedyn y cyfle yma oedd syniad hyfryd gan Phillip Hughes a Sioned Phillips, gyda’r cyfle i gyd-weithio gydag Elinor Gwyn er mwyn creu casgliad o 7 portread o ferched ar lestri.
Mae hi hefyd wedi bod yn fraint gallu cyd-weithio gyda’r cerddor Robat Arwyn sydd wedi ymateb i’r portreadau drwy gerddoriaeth. Hefyd, yr amryddawn, Lisa Heledd sydd wedi creu ffilm arbennig i ddogfennu’r prosiect. Mae’r ffotograffiaeth hyfryd a’r gwaith sain dechnegol yn yr arddangosfa wedi’u creu gan Dewi Tannat Lloyd a’r gwaith graffeg wedi’i lunio gan lygaid craff Lisa Rostron o gwmni Lawn.
Hoffwn ddiolch o waelod calon i’r merched sydd wedi rhoi eu hamser i mi eu cyfweld ac am gytuno am fod yn rhan o’r prosiect yma, sef, Dolly Childs, Angharad Tomos, Georgia Ruth, Krystal Lowe a Dr. Ffion Reynolds, heb anghofio’r cyntaf un sef Liz Saville Roberts. Mae yna hefyd gasgliad sy’n portreu y Delynores Nansi Richards ac Elinor Gwyn yn yr arddangosfa.

Over the past two years, I've been working on an exhibition called ‘Merched ar Lestri’ (Women on Ceramics/China) which will open next Saturday, January the 18th at Ruthin Craft Centre. The origin of this opportunity was a wonderful idea by Phillip Hughes and Sioned Phillips, who also brought myself and Elinor Gwyn together in order to create a collection of 7 portraits of women on ceramics (the word ‘llestri’ is used to reference domestic ceramics in Welsh, somewhere in-between ‘china’ and ‘dishes’)
It has also been a privilege to work with the musician Robat Arwyn who has responded to the portraits through his own compositions. Lisa Heledd has also created a beautiful film to document the project. The photography and technical sound work in the exhibition have been created by Dewi Tannat Lloyd and the graphic work has been created by the sharp eye of Lisa Rostron from Lawn.
I’m especially grateful to the women who have generously given me their time and for agreeing to be part of this project. These women include Dolly Childs, Angharad Tomos, Georgia Ruth, Krystal Lowe and Dr. Ffion Reynolds, without forgetting the woman who agreed to the very first portrait, Liz Saville Roberts MP. There is also a collection that portrays the Harpist, Nansi Richards and Elinor Gwyn in the exhibition.
A talk will be held between myself and Elinor at the Gallery in Ruthin Craft Centre at 12 on Saturday, with the show officially opening at 2pm. A warm welcome to all.
